Nebraska Core + Pelvic Therapy provides a unique experience to those seeking a more holistic and personal physical therapy experience. You are a whole person. We believe in finding and fixing the underlying “why”. Our holistic approach yields lasting results because we look to address all the factors contributing to your symptoms.

 

Physical therapy is a team effort. We are here to listen and help you meet your goals. We empower our patients through tools and understanding to resolve symptoms and prevent them from returning.

 

We provide one on one treatments, in a comfortable and private setting. We provide ample time to really hear you and give you the personal experience you deserve while providing the care necessary to address your symptoms and achieve your goals.

Dr. Kierra Larsen, PT, DPT

 

Dr. Kierra Larsen is the founder of Nebraska Core + Pelvic Therapy and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Florida Gulf Coast University. She founded Nebraska Core + Pelvic Therapy in 2018 with the goal of empowering women and normalizing pelvic health physical therapy In Omaha, NE. She founded NCPT with a special emphasis on empowering women during the pregnancy and postpartum phases of life and supporting women throughout the lifespan. 

 

She combines her strong orthopedic background with a passion for pelvic floor physical therapy to ensure her patients receive the best care possible. Dr. Kierra is certified in the treatment of pelvic pain, abdominal health, incontinence, bowel dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, prenatal/postpartum therapy, and obstetric physical therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Kierra is trained in Spinning Babies and obstetric physical therapy techniques to promote optimal fetal positioning and help women prepare for labor. Dr. Larsen is also certified in trigger point dry needling and dry needling for pelvic pain through Myopain.

     

Outside of work, Dr. Kierra is a married to her husband, Jack and is a mother to her daughters Lilly (3 years- old) and Daisy (1 year-old). She enjoys spending time with her family, country music, traveling, and spending time outdoors.

Dr. Kelly Djernes, PT, DPT

 

Dr. Kelly Djernes has always been fascinated by the awe-inspiring complexity of our human anatomy. She believes our bodies are designed to move and have an amazing capacity to heal themselves when trained to move properly. Dr. Kelly earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and has been practicing outpatient physical therapy in the Omaha area since 2012. She enjoys helping people regain their prior level of function and return to the activities they love. During her pregnancy and postpartum phase with her first daughter, Dr. Djernes felt a calling to help other women navigate the unique physical challenges that accompany motherhood. She has earned a Certificate of Achievement in Obstetric Physical Therapy (CAPP-OB) through the American Physical Therapy Association and has completed specialized training in the evaluation and treatments of pelvic floor conditions through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. Kelly believes that mothers have miraculous, life-giving bodies that are often neglected due to the demands of parenting. It is her mission to educate and empower pregnant and postpartum women to rediscover fitness and strength in their new bodies.


Dr. Djernes has been blessed with a loving husband, Nick, and three rambunctious daughters: Brenna, Adelynn, and Willa. Together they enjoy exploring the great outdoors, reading storybooks (but mostly just ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’ over and over again), making messes, and performing musical numbers to an audience of stuffed animals.

Dr. Krysta Winkelmann, PT, DPT

 

Dr. Krysta was born and raised in Omaha, NE. She graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2013 and has been practicing in Omaha for the last 9 years. She has experience with a variety of diagnoses. She is certified through Myopain in Trigger Point Dry Needling and incorporates her dry needling expertise frequently into her practice.


After her unplanned C-section with her daughter, Nora, Dr. Krysta felt a calling to switch gears into the women's health world. She has gained so much empathy for women and loves to see women have healthy, successful, and enjoyable pregnancies and deliveries. She realizes the huge impact that carrying babies can have on our bodies as we age and truly enjoys helping women of all ages improve their quality of life through movement and education. Dr. Krysta is a spin instructor at Elevate Cycling and Fitness and coaches volleyball with Premier Volleyball in her spare time. She is married to her husband Brandon and together have a 2-year-old daughter, Nora, an angel baby, Nolan, and their German Shepard/Lab mix, Ozzie. They are huge Atlanta Braves fans, love hanging at the pool in the summer, visiting local breweries, going to concerns, and spending time with their extended families!

Emily Lingerfelt, PT, MScPT

Emily Lingerfelt, PT is a passionate Physical Therapist. Having received her education at Queen's University in Canada, Emily began her career in orthopedic care in Toronto. Her emergent focus concerns women's health. She has received training in pelvic floor assessment. She hopes to continue her development as a pelvic floor physical therapist with courses in pre- and postnatal care, sexual dysfunction, incontinence and many other areas!


She is pursuing doula training concurrent with her development as a Physical Therapist to help the mamas she treats in another way. She feels it is important for women to have the support they want during their birth as well as before and after. Emily seeks to heal, as well as motivate her clients.


Emily is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Omaha, where she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, focusing on development before continuing on to her Master's in Physio at Queens.


When she is not at work, Emily can be found at home spending time with her partner, Tyler, and their two adorable pets, Millie and Gus. She loves cooking for her family and friends and always tries to make time for a little dancing, yoga or outdoor playtime!

Dr. Anna Drumm, PT, DPT

 

Dr. Anna Drumm is an Omaha native. She graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University in Kansas City in 2015. Anna has been practicing physical therapy in the Omaha area since then, and has worked with a wide variety of conditions and patient populations.


After her first pregnancy, Anna felt a calling to pursue more education on women's health and conditions related to pregnancy and postpartum. She is excited to help other women navigate the unique challenges that arise during motherhood. Anna has training in pelvic floor conditions from the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, and she is a certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist. She is also certified in trigger point dry needling through Kinetacore. When she's not working, Anna spends her time with her husband Wes, their daughter Natalie, and their dog, Jax. They enjoy watching sports, grabbing craft beers, traveling, and spending time with their extended families.

Britnee Hoffner, PTA

 

Britnee is a PT Assistant who attended Clarkson College and graduated in 2008. Her physical therapy background includes orthopedic care, pelvic health in women's, men's, and pediatric care. She specializes in prenatal and postpartum physical therapy, the female athlete, pelvic floor and abdominal health, and rehabilitation after breast cancer surgery. Britnee has training with different manual techniques including cupping, ASTM/instrument assisted soft tissue work, and kinesio taping.

Britnee is married and has two children, Emma and Tristan. They also have a fur baby Rylee. She enjoys spending time with her family, taking photos, and traveling to the mountains.

Larissa Michaelis, PT, MPT

Larissa has been a physical therapist for over 20 years working in various settings, including pediatrics, inpatient, outpatient, and early intervention. After taking some time off, moving to Nebraska, and focusing on family life, she felt it was the right time to jump back into her career as a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist.

Larissa and her husband Mike have three children- Wyatt, Will, and Molly. Her three kids and husband enjoy mountain biking, so she spends a lot of her time cheering them on and volunteering at their races. She also enjoys working in her yard, cooking, reading, and going on getaways with her girlfriends.

Dr. Renee Cunkle, PT, DPT 

Dr. Renee’s interest in pelvic health began during graduate school when she was introduced to the specialty during one of her clinical rotations. Less than a year after beginning her career focusing on orthopedic physical therapy, she took her first of many pelvic health courses and fell in love with the specialty. She has been treating individuals with pelvic health dysfunctions exclusively for the last four years. 

She treats everyone—women, men, and those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Dr. Renee is passionate about everyone having access to pelvic health PT and treats all things related to pelvic and abdominal health. She has expertise in visceral mobilization, fascial mobilization, breathing dysfunctions, gastrointestinal issues, dry needling, and more. 

Dr. Renee was born and raised in Florida and earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. During the pandemic, Dr. Renee met her fiancé, Matt, while living in Monterey, CA. She lived in Colorado Springs, CO prior to moving to Omaha, NE. She has a Great Pyrenees dog named Monty. Renee will get married in Rocky Mountain National Park in the summer of 2024.
